Short note on federal response

This article posted yesterday on the New York Times website provides a good overview of the lackluster federal response to the foreclosure crisis and the confusion surrounding the process of reigning in bank foreclosures.

Foreclosure Aid Fell Short, and Is Fading

Huffington Press article I referenced in class on Tuesday

can be found here.  What intrigues me (and scares me) is the scale of the problem.  For instance, according to the article " the likely cost of reducing mortgage principal for the three million homeowners" who owe more than their house is worth could "cost as much as $135 billion, according to the internal presentation, dated Feb. 14, obtained by The Huffington Post."   That is a lot of money.

Using this blog to post information

We will use the blog to post information and reflect upon postings.  You are required to post something substantive at least 4 times a week.  Substantive might be a posting about foreclosure such as this blog post by an attorney about the change in attitude shown by a judge regarding foreclosure.  This information that you and your classmates post on the blog will help frame the white papers for the class.
