Kalamazoo Foreclosure

http://www.foreclosure.com/search/MI_077.html

Since the top discussion right now has been on foreclosures in Kalamazoo, thought this website would be helpful to see how low foreclosed prices really are in our area. Along with prices of properties, the site also provides the numbers of short sales, bankruptcies, pre-foreclosures, foreclosures, sheriff sales and auctions.

  1. If you look at Texas Township, especially in Rudgates, you will not see a lot of foreclosures there. Dr. McKinney mentioned to me that Texas Township is filled with wealthy people and have the ability to "keep" their houses. Around my neighbor hood there, I only saw three dots close by, and that's it. I thought there will be a lot of people who have sought their dream houses and lost their homes there in Texas Township. Apparently not. So really, it depends on the community and your socioeconomic status.

  2. That's true, I expected my small town in Virginia to have higher numbers, but the neighborhoods around me consist of many older and retired couples who are already financially stable. Location and status are everything when examining these things.

  3. Although my town of Lake Fenton did not have as many foreclosures as I thought there were still 32 foreclosures in the area. This is a national trend in which neighborhoods of all economic stratospheres are being affected.

  4. Only 4 of the houses listed in the Kalamazoo area are going for above $100,000, which I always thought was pretty inexpensive as it is (less than 4 years at K!). Then again my perception of housing costs (something I've only paid attention to since probably the mid-bubble because of my age) is probably hugely inflated. Maybe when (if) I decide to buy a home, I'll be happily surprised at the low cost! ... but probably not. :)
