Timeline of the Crisis

http://motherjones.com/politics/2008/07/where-credit-due-timeline-mortgage-crisis

I found this timeline to be really interesting and useful. It gets into some of the historical precedents that lead up to the crisis, which helped give more background and context.

What do you guys think? Does anything on the timeline surprise you?

  1. Most striking to me is that there was never an "aha!" moment anywhere in the timeline before the collapse. I kept waiting for the warnings that had been ignored and they never came; politics and big business seem to have blinded essentially everyone who should have been keeping watch. Depressing.

  2. Alex, I totally agree. It's amazing to see how long the higher ups in the finance world denied the existence of a crisis. It'd be interesting to see what the time line looks like up to today.
