A Pixel City

After watching the Lego Apartment video that Adam posted, it reminded of this interesting urban living environment I once stumbled upon. Check upp on ittt:

  1. This is crazy awesome. I love this part of their statement about the residences: "Those who choose Habitat 67 as their main residence create their own world to their image, within a complex of a remarkable unity."

It's cool that these buildings come with a sense of personality and style built into them, even if they're a little too modern for some home buyers. I think attaching a sense of identity to a community is important to sustaining it.

  2. Wow... I agree, awesome. Check out the "privileges" tab under "rental and purchase"... pretty much every convenience you could think of..

  3. I have mixed feelings about the building. Its definitely stylish, but doesn't give a homely feel. Also I tried to check the price of the apartments and all it said was that they are affordable. I was wondering if they are high priced because of their unique architecture and location.

  5. It’s a “new” kind of community. I would live in a complex like this. It has a great view and landscaped terraces. This utilizes space really well. The complex houses a large number of people without the close proximity of an apartment building.
If this was in Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids I would live there.

  6. I agree with Komal, it's not homey. This seems like one of those places that caused a huge discrepancy when they decided to build it, it's the perfect location but such stark architectural design that a lot of people would have opposed. Also, the name makes it sound futuristic (and uncomfortable, like you're in a zoo), especially for the 35 years ago that it was built.

  7. I would definitely live here for the comfort and really good use of space, the perceived lack of "homey-ness" doesn't really bother me. I guess whether they've made it aesthetically appealing enough to succeed is the real question; for me it is, clearly for others on the blog not so much.

  8. That is really cool! However, I think it will be very pricey and dangerous. I hope they can set this up in a safe location free from strong winds and etc. You don't want that thing to fall apart, right?
