What are your thoughts on the Michigan turnaround plan?

  1. I think this plan could make a huge impact on Michigan, but implementing this plan is the issue. McKinney talked about how the last two steps have not been seen. I also think that someone needs to take charge of this to make it happen.

  2. I think it's a good start. I have no idea whether or not it'll be successful, but it's not like we have anything better at the moment and I think it's made some impact so far. However, creating job growth seems to be the trickiest part. "Making investments that create a great job environment" is a bit vague!

  3. The Michigan plan that we read about in this week’s assignment is a great start for government officials to know what they should focus on. Though it’s a good start, I believe the plan needs to be more detailed in order to be implemented successfully. I would like to see deep analytical work on this plan being done, such as timelines for when policies should be implemented and the predicted time of the policy’s impact on the economy.

  4. I think this plan is a great step forward for the state of Michigan. Obviously we need to implement this plan over a long period of time to see it's positive or negative effects, however the hard part is going to be getting enough resources and money to put this plan into effect relatively soon.

  5. I agree with most of the people above that it is a good first step. I think that Michigan needs a change because what was being done before wasn't helping the economy at all. I think that fresh ideas and people are definitely a good start. Especially since I would hope that businessmen know how to attract business. I don't think that I will be able to judge the plan until I start to see an outcome.

  6. I also agree, but I think Mark is right that it has to be a long-term, not a short-term plan. It's a step in the right direction, but I think it's a little too general and vague to make a difference in the short run.

  7. If it turns around, I'm all for it!
