job displacement
it is difficult to say that we shouldnt have technology for the sole reason to keep jobs because it also creates more business than any people could perform. the jon displacement is difficult to cope with but i believe it is only going to get worse as technology continues to imrpove and eventually take over industries we never thought it would.

technology has been already putting people out of jobs. After all, managers of the company's goal is not to distribute wealth to the whole country but to maximize profit. If cutting people and replacing them with technology is a beneficial solution, why not? It all goes back to the moral vs efficiency topic.
ReplyDeleteThis is certainly true, but we also need to develop new technologies that create jobs. Obviously our recent focus has been the creation of technology to lower labor costs, but our economy is calling for new technologies (mostly environmentally based) that would need to be operated and supervised by people. I think technology is the answer, but like you said, it can't be focused on eliminating human labor.
