Ohio Voters Reject Public-Union Limits

Ohio voters shut down the proposed law that would restrict the powers of the public sector unions. This law would have stripped the state's 350,000 public employees of most of their collective-bargaining rights and forced workers to pay 15% of their health care costs. 61% voted against the bill. Many states watched this election closely because other states have been debating whether cutting wages and benefits for the public unions would be a good way to cut government spending. In Wisconsin, a similar union rights restricting law was passed; however, Indiana failed to pass version of the law.
