Obama's Student Loan Relief Program

The student relief program allows borrowers of federal student loans to have their monthly payments set to a reasonable amount based on their income and family size. As of right now payments can be capped at 15% of borrowers discretionary income. Under federal law, this cap is set to be lowered in 2014 to 10%. Obama plans to extend these benefits to borrowers who took out student loans in 2008 and later.

  3. This would be a great way to give students a financial break. They could keep money in their pockets and spend it elsewhere boosting the GDP. Student loans suck and many of us K students have them, so I am sure all of us would appreciate a break. Currently many of us will be paying them off until we are in our late 30s.
